Dubai International Airport is the world's largest airport by passenger traffic, and the seventh busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic. It is also the busiest airport in the Gulf region. The airport opened on 4 June 1966, making it one of the oldest airports in the world. In 2010, Dubai International Airport handled 50 million passengers and was the second busiest airport in Europe after London Heathrow Airport.

Dubai International Airport is the world's busiest airport and offers a wide range of services, including air cargo, passenger and cargo terminals, an international transit centre, a domestic transit centre, a cargo storage area and a maintenance hangar. The airport has been certified by the Skytrax World Airport Awards as the best airport in the world for six consecutive years. The airport has two terminals: Terminal 1 is dedicated to passenger traffic and features 12 passenger gates that can accommodate up to 66 million passengers per year. Terminal 2 is used for cargo traffic and features 10 cargo gates that can accommodate up to 50 million tonnes per year. The airport has a total of 89 aircraft stands that can handle a total of 692 aircraft. There are also three helipads that can service up to 16 helicopters at one time.
